About Lawrence Taylor
Lawrence Taylor was a dominant New York Giants linebacker whose speed and pass-rushing ability reshaped how offenses protected the quarterback. A three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, he remains one of football’s most influential defenders.
Lawrence Julius Taylor played linebacker for the New York Giants from 1981 through 1993. Selected second overall in the 1981 NFL Draft, he made an immediate impact by winning Defensive Rookie of the Year and helping establish a new standard for attacking the quarterback from the edge. Taylor earned 10 first-team All-Pro selections, won the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award in 1986, and was a central figure on the Giants’ Super Bowl XXI championship team. He also helped New York win Super Bowl XXV before ending his playing career after the 1993 season. Taylor finished with 132.5 official sacks and entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
