About Mickey Mantle
Mickey Mantle was a switch-hitting center fielder whose entire Major League career was spent with the New York Yankees. A three-time American League MVP and Baseball Hall of Fame member, he became one of baseball’s defining stars of the postwar era.
Mickey Mantle played 18 seasons for the New York Yankees from 1951 through 1968, primarily as a center fielder. A switch hitter with notable power from both sides of the plate, he became a central figure in the Yankees’ championship teams of the 1950s and 1960s. Mantle won three American League Most Valuable Player Awards, captured the 1956 Triple Crown, and finished his career with 536 home runs. He helped New York win seven World Series titles and was selected for 20 All-Star Games. Mantle was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974, his first year of eligibility. His cards remain especially important to collectors because they span the growth of the postwar baseball-card market and document a career built around sustained excellence.
